dwight trible and the life force trio - love is the answer
dwight trible is someone who deserves serious respect.
he has been involved with the improvised jazz/soul/funk scene for quite a few years, and has subsequently worked with such names as harry belafonte and pharaoh sanders. this album however is a new deal. the combination of the ultra modern stripped down instrumental hip hop grooves of carlos nino ( one half of ammoncontact) and dwights vocals makes for a fascinating experience.
admittedly it's not all to my taste, as the melodies are quite random in places, and the production a little dry, but still, there are flashes of excellence throughout. so i suspect that this is a perfect album for anyone who likes to listen to unique challenging improvised vocal jazz songs in which the lyrics recall the 60's ideals of love peace and harmony to a rather strange take on hip hop backing tracks. file under : interesting. it's just a little too out there for my own listening pad.
